The "Selecting" Of Fine Art I don't know what good art is: This is a common complaint. Think for a second, did anyone have to teach you what foods you like? No... you liked some, and disliked others. Selecting ART matters just that much. Only you can decide what you like. If your parents were wise in the way of rearing children, they exposed you to a lot of foods... and a lot of different type of Fine Arts, from museums and Art Galleries to Art Shows, perhaps. Or, perchance, not at all; at the other end of the spectrum; your parents may not have exposed you to much in the way of Fine Arts. But, you were exposed none the less to a great deal of ART, automatically: All those magazines ads, bus ads, billboards, TV ads, This is all Art. Not to mention Graffiti. Wow, Art surrounds us. Yes, most of it is graphic Art, rather than fine Art... but all of it influences your Taste. It is not always the total image the strikes your interest. It can be a simple line, or a color that awakens a feeling, or memory that makes you feel good, or positive about a time in your life. It is that feeling that your want to capture and hold on to. As you study your new piece that original feeling takes you to other parts of the image to open up other undiscovered feelings and memories. The beauty of art is that the more you study it, the more you discover obut the Piece which can take you to new places. Ultimately, when, you finally get a chance to walk or Web surf into a Gallery , you get to decide (and it is truly a subconscious thing)... what do you like? You decide that you must have it when you leave... Remember, you are right... for you. And there is nothing more personal in the world than your choice of ART. |
